Hanne Dale (1984–), born and based on the west coast of Norway. My creative practice has revolved around photography and drawing for a long time, but it is not until recently that I have started to really combine the two. I am interested in the interactions between culture and nature, inner and outer worlds and visual storytelling in all forms. I just completed two years at Atelier Smedsby, a photo workshop run by JH Engström and Margot Wallard, and before that I have attended various workshops at Neue Schule für Fotografie in Berlin. I first got interested in photography as a student, where I fell in love with the imperfect and more craft-like nature of analogue photography. At the moment I am working at the intersection of photography and drawing. Resume Hanne Dale art

These pictures are from a body of work I have been developing since 2017. In it I play with interactions between photography and drawing to express a personal view of the world. Sometimes I draw on or re-draw photographs to get closer to my original idea. In that sense this is an inner world, an attempt to dive into my own subconscious, with its dreams, fears and skewed perceptions of reality. Fear of the future, of polarisation and increasing division, of sleepwalking, of missing out, of comfort and stasis, of too much change – and rain, always the rain.

The photos submitted are part of a series of both analogue photographs and drawings, and can also be exhibited together with some of the drawings.
